Rhinoplasty hands on cadaver workshop

SKULLBASECON 2026: Anterior Skull Base, Lateral Skull Base & Rhinoplasty
Conducted from January 23 to January 31, 2026, SKULLBASECON 2026 was a premier 9-day multi-module cadaveric surgical masterclass. Organised jointly by the Department of ENT and the Department of Anatomy, in esteemed association with the Dandi Skullbase Foundation and the Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI India), this comprehensive conference brought together national and international skull base experts and rhinoplasty surgeons.

The workshop delivered advanced hands-on surgical training to 30 faculty delegates, utilizing state-of-the-art operative workstations, high-definition 4K endoscopic towers, operating microscopes, and high-speed surgical drills.

Three Specialized Dissection Tracks
The 9-day curriculum was systematically divided into three interconnected, high-yield surgical modules:

  • Track 1: Anterior Skull Base – Endoscopic endonasal corridors, transcribriform, transplanum, and transclival approaches
  • Track 2: Lateral Skull Base – Infratemporal fossa, transpetrosal, translabyrinthine, and middle cranial fossa approaches
  • Track 3: Advanced Rhinoplasty – Open and endonasal structural septorhinoplasty, graft harvesting, and osteotomies
  • Elite Faculty Training – 30 specialist faculty delegates trained across dedicated, fully-equipped workstations
  • Academic Collaboration – Department of ENT & Anatomy in association with Dandi Skullbase Foundation & AOI India
All specimens were prepared according to international anatomical standards and ethical frameworks, giving faculty delegates true surgical tactile feedback and high-definition visualization of deep neurovascular boundaries.
Comprehensive 9-Day Masterclass Schedule (23/01/2026 – 31/01/2026)
SKULLBASECON 2026 provided an uninterrupted bridge between complex regional anatomy and operative skull base procedures, combining master prosections, video case analyses, and intensive table dissection.
The 9 days were strategically structured into three dedicated 3-day modules: Anterior Skull Base (Jan 23–25), Lateral Skull Base (Jan 26–28), and Open/Preservation Rhinoplasty (Jan 29–31), allowing in-depth surgical execution across all three specialized fields.

Modular Track Matrix

Phase 1: Anterior Skull Base (Jan 23-25) | Phase 2: Lateral Skull Base (Jan 26-28) | Phase 3: Rhinoplasty Masterclass (Jan 29-31)
Endoscopic Endonasal Approach (EEA) corridors | Infratemporal fossa approach (Fisch Type A/B) | Open approach, marginal & transcolumellar incisions
Transcribriform, transplanum & sellar exposures | Translabyrinthine & transcochlear corridors | Structural tip surgery: columellar struts & sutures
Cavernous sinus & paraclival ICA dissection | Middle cranial fossa & petrosectomy | Dorsal humpectomy, osteotomies & graft harvest
Vascularized flaps (Hadad-Bassagasteguy) | Facial nerve routing & jugular foramen surgery | Functional septoplasty & valve reconstructions

Core Surgical Modules & Syllabus
Guided by renowned faculty from Dandi Skullbase Foundation, AOI India, and the hosting departments, delegates performed step-by-step master dissections:

Sinonasal dissection, sphenoidotomy, sellar opening, pituitary gland exposure, optic nerve decompression, unroofing of the carotid canal, transcribriform resection, and harvesting vascularized nasoseptal flaps for watertight skull base defect repair.
Fisch type A, B, and C infratemporal fossa exposures, permanent anterior transposition of the facial nerve, internal carotid artery control at the petrous apex, and safe access corridors to the jugular bulb and lower cranial nerves (IX, X, XI).
Translabyrinthine, transcochlear, and retrolabyrinthine approaches for acoustic neuromas, internal auditory canal unroofing, endolymphatic sac decompression, and safe labyrinthectomy techniques.
Inverted-V transcolumellar incision, sub-SMAS dissection plane, composite tip cartilaginous architecture, cephalic trim, spreader graft placement, columellar strut fixation, and tongue-in-groove repositioning.
Lateral, medial, and transverse osteotomy trajectories, conchal and septal cartilage harvesting techniques, dorsal preservation principles, and reconstruction of the internal/external nasal valves.
Interactive cross-sectional demonstrations by the Department of Anatomy highlighted relational neurovascular corridors and fascial planes crucial for operative safety.
Eligibility & Workstation Infrastructure
Designed for practicing ENT surgeons, neurosurgeons, and academic faculty seeking mastery in advanced skull base and facial plastic surgery.
Each dissection station underwent rigorous calibration and safety checks ensuring continuous irrigation, optic clarity, and optimal specimen handling throughout the 9-day program.
